West Ada School District Backpack Program
The Meridian Food Bank sponsors a backpack food program for the West Ada School District, which includes the communities of Boise, Meridian, Eagle, and Star. Many students who receive reduced-price or free lunches come from situations where food is scarce, and they need extra food assistance. Our program gives qualifying students a backpack on the last day of school each week during the school year filled with enough food for six meals and two snacks to ensure that they have food to eat over the weekend. During 2022, we distributed over 19,689 backpacks, serving over 500 children.
You can help by sponsoring a child for $25. Your donation will provide enough food to feed a student for six weeks, and you have the option to do a one-time donation or a recurring monthly donation. You also have the option to sponsor more than one student (we've included 1, 2, and 3 student options), or sponsor as many as you wish with a donation in $25 increments. We truly appreciate any support that you can provide.
